Their School-based programs are customized projects to support an arts-integrated curriculum where K-12 students work alongside professional Teaching Artists to explore themes, design and install art in their schools. Their mentor, a professional artist, works with the young person to develop their own portfolio and install their own public art pieces. Their Mentorship Program is an opportunity for teens who have completed the Mural Apprentice Program, to continue their arts training with a one-on-one mentor. Teens work together with professional teaching artists to learn basic art skills, research, design, and install murals throughout King County and beyond. The Mural Apprentice Program (MAP) provides arts-based employment training for youth with barriers to employment and education. They achieve their mission and vision through 4 core programs:

Since 1995, they have collaborated with more than 2,000 youth and hundreds of artists to create thousands of public art installations in over 30 Seattle neighborhoods and 10 different cities. Urban ArtWorks is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage youth and communities in the creation of public art that inspires connections and honors their voices.
